Today, I'm writing about something for which I feel strongly. That's my belief in God. I've had a lot of challenges in my life, but none of them have ever caused me to doubt my belief. In fact, I think if I didn't have faith, I might not have been able to fight as hard or stand as long. My faith in God isn't just this idle notion that He exists. It's an overwhelming belief that HE is. I am a child of God, and I'm not ashamed to say it. That's why I can honestly say my faith is unchangeable no matter the circumstance.

If you follow me on Pinterest, you'll see that I have a Favorite Quotes board. I love finding nuggets of wisdom, whether it's in a book, on TV, in person, or online. So today's another easy day for me!
So today's challenge is to write about something I struggle with, and to be honest, I struggled with writing this because I'm, for the most part, a private person. I don't mind sharing things about writing, but I don't like to get too personal. So I had to come up with something I could share that didn't shove me outside my comfort zone.
What I settled on was being outspoken. I'm not saying this is necessarily a bad thing, but I struggle with knowing when to rein it in sometimes. I am extremely sarcastic, especially if I'm in a confrontational situation. I've always had a sharp tongue and words come easily to me when someone is attacking me or someone I care about verbally. Being as outspoken as I am can be off-putting, and people automatically assume I'm unapproachable or, to be blunt, bitchy. So I do struggle with keeping it in check. There are times when I don't try because I need the aggressiveness, but knowing how much it can deter people, I attempt to keep that in mind when I'm having a conversation, especially if that person doesn't know me very well. And there you have it. My confession for the day! This one is so very easy for me since I love, love, love music. If you visit my Extras for you page, you'll see the list of songs I adore. Some of the ones I post here might be on that list since I'm not checking, but here they are in the order I have them on my playlist. Maybe you can find another favorite song!
Day 5 of the 30 day writing challenge is one of my favorites! There are so many places in this world I'd love to visit, but these have always been at the top of my list!
This one is simple for me because my answer is always the same. When I was 17, I met my Sunday School teacher. Gracious, kind, and patient, she taught that class with so much spirit that I couldn't help but hang on to her every word.
A politician, a teacher, a mother, a wife, a Christian, and a phenomenal woman, she taught me that I could be anything. She became a surrogate mother to me, and as I grew, we became friends. Over thirty years later, the friendship remains, and I see her at least four times a year if not more. We talk on the phone several times a week, sharing the good and the bad, encouraging one another and, most of all, laughing. I say most of all because if there's one thing she brings to my life, it's joy. That is inspiration to me. This day's post is an easy one. My top three pet peeves are, in no particular order:
Today's writing challenge is to write something that someone told me that I've never forgotten. It was years ago and on a blind date. At the end of the date, the man told me he was sorry, but that he was just pickier about his women. (He preferred soft-spoken, meeker women.) Those words stuck with me. Not because they were painful (they were at the time), but because whenever I'm criticized for anything, it pushes me to do better. In this instance, there was nothing for me to do. I couldn't change to be something he wanted. After he walked away, I realized I didn't want to change anyway. Sometimes, you're better off not keeping the one that got away. Has someone said something to you that you'll always remember? So I'm starting a 30 Day Writing Challenge that's actually for journaling, but I thought I'd use it for blogging to help me get into the habit of keeping up with my blog even more. Day 1—10 Things That Make Me Happy
And there you have it. Ten things that make me happy. What about you? What makes you happy?
