Once upon a time, I was a social media fanatic. I loved everything about it. Interacting with readers and writers. Sharing good news and celebrating others. And the list goes on. But I don't need to tell any of you that a lot of that has changed now. A good portion of social media has become a place where people go to argue or to scream into the void in the hopes their voices will be heard. There's less social about it, and that's not good for anyone's mental health. So, I'm taking a step back from some social media. I'll be taking my Facebook author page down and will only update my Instagram whenever the mood hits me. It won't be something I schedule any longer. I'll be tweeting the same way. And Pinterest is going back to what I used to use it for...for fun. This doesn't mean I'm disappearing off of the internet. Instead, I'll be amping up my presence on Bookbub and Goodreads. I'll focus on growing my newsletter to bring you even better giveaways and fun things. I'll still be here on my blog, which I'll probably start updating more often, and my website will always be here. And I'll be spending some more time at local bookstores and venues. I want to focus more on what it means, for me, to be a writer...that's engaging with readers. I'm not doing that as often on social media. Hopefully, this way, I'll get to know more of you, and we can build a community in another way!

i saw this question on Twitter, and I thought "what a great way to get to know people a little better." You can tell a lot about someone from what they carry in their purse. For example, I carry copious amounts of Refresh eye drops. Easy to deduce that I have dry eyes. So what else is there?
Monday was my 51st birthday. I don't mind admitting my age because getting older doesn't bother me. Some people will say it's just another year, or it's only a number. But I say it's the start of another year of life which means I'll have more chances to do what my heart's telling me to do, more opportunities to grow and learn, and more time to spend with the people I love the most! Also, a birthday is a great time for a little indulgence! I scheduled several things this week like a mani/pedi, a haircut, teeth whitening, and I bought some new clothes, books, and some furniture and accessories for my house which is undergoing major renovations! (Pictures coming soon!) Overall, it's been a great week, and I'm thankful to start another year on this planet!
Do you celebrate your birthday yourself? How do you pamper yourself? I bought this book at Target, which is my all-time favorite store, and thought it would be a wonderful way for you to get to know me better and for me to share some other aspects of my life with you. So I'll pick and choose a few questions each week to share with you.
It seems like every day on social media there is a person (or people) sharing a story about how someone criticized them for something they chose to do that didn't hurt anyone. It could be something as simple as binge-watching Downton Abbey instead of cleaning the house. Yep. I've done it. But that's just it. Why should we feel guilty about it? I don't feel guilty about the TV programs I watch, the movies I enjoy, or the music I listen to because they're my choices. So I'm going to share some of my not-so-guilty pleasures with you today, and I encourage you to let go of the feelings of guilt and just be you!
So I wrote a post last year, sharing 9 things about me. A lot can happen in a year so I wanted to share 9 more things you don't know about me, probably because they happened last year or I just haven't shared them yet.
I read a blog challenge on Tumblr tonight, and the question was: How would your life change if everyone knew your secrets? I cringed and swallowed hard. Wow. That wouldn't be good. We all have secrets. Maybe it's something simple like you had a crush on your best friend's boyfriend back in high school, or it could be something more sinister. Either way, can you imagine how your life would change if all your secrets came to light? Could you stand in front of a room full of people while your deepest, darkest secrets were read aloud?
I know my life would definitely change. Even my closest friends don't know all of my secrets because, let's be honest, that's why they're called secrets. Would knowing all of my secrets change how they felt about me? Probably not, but I would wonder, and that would change my relationship with them. So how about you? How would your life change if everyone knew your secrets?
