If you don't constantly need doctors, you might not appreciate this as much as I do. I have quite a few health challenges that I rarely discuss, some of which have required numerous surgeries, and I've been fortunate to, for the most part, have wonderful doctors. Doctors that care, work diligently to put me back together, and sincerely want to see me get well. So today, I am grateful for excellent doctors and surgeons who are not only exceptional at their chosen career path but are kind, compassionate, and truly remarkable people.

Today, I'm grateful for courage. The courage to follow my dreams, to keep pushing even when the odds are overwhelming. Courage isn't something that is easily obtained. It's only through trials that we realize how brave we are. In the midst of the battles, I found my courage, and that' is why I'm still here, ever grateful for the strength to go on.
What kind of author would I be if I didn't include good books in my list of things to be grateful for these thirty days? With books, inspiring movies, music, and favorite television series, escape is always within my grasp. And I have to say that I've discovered some wonderful gems in books over the recent months. Books by Veronica Blade and Emerald Barnes have captured and held my attention, even to the point where I was repeatedly asking one of those authors when the final book in the series was coming out. Those are the kind of books that let me get lost in a world that isn't mine, but I love every second that I visit. So, today, I'm grateful for good books!
Everyone needs to escape, to get lost in a different reality and leave this one behind if only for an hour. I can do that when I visit Star City, New York City, Los Angles, and Hope Valley. Two of these places are fictional, none of these characters are real, nor are the stories, but for a little while, as I watch, my problems and stresses fade away. So today, I'm grateful for my favorite TV shows and for writers that keep me coming back for more!
Regardless of what went on it on my past, I'm grateful for it today because it led me to where I am today. If I could change anything in my past, I wouldn't because I might not have the friends I have or the life I have. Sometimes, it's hard to be thankful for difficult times, but it's those times that shaped me and created the person I am at this moment. I'm not saying that's a perfect person or that I have a perfect life, but I have perfect things in my life, and there are many, many aspects that I would never want to lose. And my past has allowed my future to come to fruition. Today is Veterans' Day, and it's because of the military service members that I am able to say I'm grateful for my freedom. These are men and women who enlisted, knowing they might be sacrificing their own lives. They fought for and continue to fight for our country, to keep America the land of the free and the home of the brave. So yes, today, I'm grateful for my freedom afforded to me by the U.S. Military.
While I love action movies and romantic comedies, I'm a colossal fan of inspiring movies. You know the ones I'm talking about. They motivate and uplift you, and after watching, you feel like you could take on the world. I got to watch one of these a few nights ago.
Apple Mortgage Cake starring Kimberly Elise is based upon a true story about a woman who didn't know how she was going to pay her mortgage. The entire time she's struggling, she kept up with her volunteer duties, walked when her car broke down, and just kept going and then when the idea came about to sell her apple cakes, she got busy. And it worked. Now, Angela Logan runs a business making her cakes, and her story is a motivational journey! And as the credits rolled, I had such a sense of amazement. Those are the kinds of movies I love and why I'm grateful today for movies that inspire me. Anyone who follows me on any of my social media platforms knows that I'm a coffee addict. My day doesn't start until the caffeine kicks in. I love everything about that first cup of coffee in the morning, from the aroma to the feel of the hot mug in my hands. It's like a liquid hug for my brain, but it's also a mental note telling me it's time to start the day. Sometimes, it's the little things in life that can make us so grateful, and today, I'm grateful for that first cup of coffee in the morning. I remember hating naps when I was a kid. I thought I would miss something if I had to go to sleep, but today, all of that has changed. When my body is exhausted and I feel like I'm going to collapse, a nap is the perfect cure. No matter how short, a nap gives me that extra dose of energy to finish the day. It's a time to shut out the world and quieten my mind. And they can help improve mood, alertness, and performance, according to the National Sleep Foundation! That's why, today, I'm grateful for naps.
I don't need to tell you that life isn't always easy. We all get knocked down, and as much as I dislike it when I hit the ground, I'm grateful for those hits because they show me how strong I can be when I get back up. They test my fortitude and make me even more determined to meet my goals. I choose to see hard knocks as challenges, daring me to stand on my own again. And I'm still standing! |
